I know because I was there..
My Name is Jordan Abaroa CEO of The Present Entrepreneur… and the irony is that I’m an Entrepreneur who never meant to own his own business.
I was never that kid who sold lemonade on the side of the street all I ever wanted to do in life was play football, coach football, and be the best dad that I could possibly be. So naturally coaching at the highest level was my goal…
However, while interviewing for a division one college coaching football job and being told straight up I would have to sacrifice my family for this career, I knew that wasn’t the path for me. I knew I would never sacrifice my family simply for a paycheck…
So I found a 9 - 5 and volunteered my coaching talents at a local high school. I realized quickly though my impact working for someone else would always be capped… I had to travel, I had clients coming into the office…
I had to punch my card in and out to get paid. Don’t get me wrong, this was a good job but it wasn’t everything I wanted. I wasn’t coaching football and I wasn’t leading my family the way I knew I needed to. So when the opportunity came to be the defensive coordinator at one of Arizona top high schools I had to make a choice.
I’ve always been the “go against the grain” “Burn the Ships” kinda guy, so I left. I now was the Defensive coordinator who made a stipend and set out on the Entrepreneur life with zero clients, an idea in mind, and a family to provide for.
The “Oh CRAP” moments were there and man were there a lot of those. I started taking every course, reading all the books, and listening to as many successful people as I could.
There was ONE common theme in all of it. They were teaching me that to be successful I had to sacrifice my family.
That took me right back to that D1 job interview and I remembered how that was the LAST thing I wanted to do.
So…
I made my own path. It wasn’t a straight, easy path, but it was absolutely worth it. I started digging deep and finding the best routes, tips/tricks, and advice to build something that would give me the life I wanted.
After a few wake up moments, I found what worked and I began living out my dream of coaching HS football,
